Recently I read about a hack on cleaning glass shower doors. It’s a chore that usually gets me high on some chemical because I spray the door and in closed spaces there is never enough ventilation and it’s just a headache waiting to happen.
Hack you must try
Two words…Dishwasher tablet. Yep, that’s the hack. Let me explain.
I started with a Finish dishwasher tablet. If you have powder, liquid or the gel style tablet, try it on a sponge and see if it works. If it does, report back here in comments, please!
I removed the red ball since it’s just in the way and I sprayed the door with water (actually this particular time I used Windex because I was too lazy to go find my spray water bottle.) In previous cleanings, I used water.
Dishwasher tablets have rinsing agents specially made for glass so it just seems like a match made in heaven. Why hasn’t this been thought of before???
Before
Here’s the before pic. You can see how terribly dirty the shower door is with heavy soap scum. Don’t judge me! It’s Covid and my maid is not cleaning homes at this time.
Simply spray down the door with water and start wiping the door with the tablet. Just back and forth…it takes about 5 minutes because the tablet is so small and the door is rather large. Be sure to get every part of the door wet and wiped with the tablet.
Finally, rinse with water and dry with a towel (or clean with Windex). If you missed a spot, you will notice after this final rinse. So you may need to redo that area if necessary.
After
Here’s my door about five minutes later. I was shocked it worked so well that I felt I needed to alert the world.
Tell your friends. Tell your family. No more squeegee or scrubbing or getting high on chemicals in the shower. You are just a dishwasher tablet away from sparkling clean and clear shower doors!
If you try cleaning with a sponge and liquid, powder or gel tablet dishwasher detergent, let me know how it works in comments below.
Happy cleaning!
