Pull Apart Cinnamon Roll Bread

Recently, I read a blog that had this general idea but I wanted to take it a step further and make it into an actual Pull Apart Cinnamon Roll Bread. Oh my! Not kidding, you are going to want to try this soon. Vera, vera, soon! I promise if you love homemade cinnamon rolls, you will love this! And your family will love this and you!

First, you will need a bowl of cinnamon sugar mixture, a stick of melted butter and a thawed loaf of frozen bread dough.

Cut the bread dough into 24 pieces. I do this by cutting down the center of the loaf lengthwise (vertically). Next, cut the dough in half horizontally to make four sections. Then, cut each quarter in half again which makes eight sections. Finally, cut each eighth into three sections which makes 24 sections. Did you keep up with me on that??

To start the process, grab one of the little pieces of dough and flatten like a pancake with your fingers, dip it into the melted butter.

Dip the coated dough disk into the cinnamon sugar and start a stack of dough disks.

Once the stack gets a little tall and starts to tip over, I add it to a well greased loaf pan.

Continue flattening, dipping and stacking until you have all pieces done.

If you have any butter or cinnamon sugar left over you can pour it over the top of the bread. Place in a warm spot. I usually preheat my oven to about 200, then shut it off. Be sure to shut it off! Add the bread to the oven and allow it to rise for about an hour to hour and a half.

Once it reaches the top of the pan, you are ready to bake. (Be sure to remove the bread from oven if you were using oven to allow bread to rise. You do not want the bread in the over during the preheating.)

Your house will smell amazing at this point. Trust me on this!

Once you pull the bread out of the oven, make some topping for the cinnamon bread. Combine some softened butter and vanilla to a bowl.

Next, add some powdered sugar and about a tablespoon of milk. Stir well.

You may need to add a little extra milk but only a very little at a time until the icing can be drizzled on top of the bread.

Remove the bread from the pan. You may need to use a knife to separate bread from the loaf pan sides. Place bread on a plate or piece of aluminum foil and drizzle with the glaze.

Pull apart and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough thawed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk (or water)

Instructions

  1. Cut the bread loaf into 24 sections. Cut in half vertically, then cut into half horizontally to make four sections. Then cut each quarter in half to make 8 sections. Finally, cut each eighth into three sections to make 24.

  2. Grease a loaf pan and set aside. Combine sugar and cinnamon in one bowl. In a separate bowl, melt the butter.

  3. Flatten a piece of bread dough into a disk. Dip into butter, then sprinkle or dip into cinnamon sugar and make a stack of dipped disks. Once you get about 8 disks stacked up, move them to the loaf pan by setting the disks on their side.

  4. Continue dipping and stacking until all pieces are completed and in the loaf pan. Allow to rise in a warm spot for about an hour to an hour and a half. Dough should double in size.

  5. Once the dough has doubled in size, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake the bread for 30 minutes.

  6. Remove bread from oven and make icing by combining softened butter, vanilla and powdered sugar in bowl. Add milk as needed to desired consistency to allow the icing to drizzle over the bread.

  7. Using a knife, separate bread from sides of pan and remove bread from pan to a plate or aluminum foil. Drizzle over the icing. Pull apart to enjoy.
